His Excellency President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom accepted to be the first Chief Scout.
Madam Gayoom becomes Chief Guide.
Both of the association were housed at the National Youth Center.
Honourable Ahmed Saathir, A Veteran Scout, then the Minister of State for religious Affairs was appointed as the new Chief Scout Commissioner.
